Learning how to love yourself and be confident it’s not an easy thing to do. But it’s a must if you want to live the happy life you desire. How can you expect to live a happy and fulfilling life if you’re not happy with yourself?
Sometimes the image you have of yourself it’s not actually true. It’s mostly made up by your limiting beliefs you gathered over the years.
If you’re looking to gain confidence and self esteem you first have to make peace with yourself.
You keep hearing and reading everywhere that you should love yourself but you have no idea how to start? Check out these tips for gaining more confidence, build self esteem and learning to LOVE YOURSELF!
Say I Love You!
You treat others with so much care and you do anything you can to make them happy. But what happens when it comes to you?
How come you treat others so nicely but you’re always hard with yourself? Learn to love, respect and appreciate yourself. Treating your body with love and care and always taking care of yourself should become a daily habit for you.
If you don’t love yourself how can you expect others to do it? How can you expect them to do something that you’re not doing?
Go in front of the mirror, take a good look at yourself. Take as much time as you need. Forgive yourself for any mistakes you’ve made and say “I love you”. YES to yourself!
Make Peace With Yourself
Some time ago I spoke with a friend who told me “I like how I think but I don’t like myself.” When I asked him “why don’t you like yourself?” He said “because of my weaknesses”.
He’s a great guy with a lot of potential but his attitude toward himself drags him down.
The most important thing you must do in life is to be happy with who you are. And happiness won’t come by hating yourself. Focusing on your weaknesses and letting them drag you down it’s not the way to go. You’ll only amplify them.
Learn To Love Your Body
Look… you have this body you live in. A body that keeps you alive every single day. Stop hurting yourself. We all have good parts and not so good ones. Learn to love both and work on improving every day. Work on what you can change!
So you want to lose weight? Well that weight won’t just vanish over night while you’re eating unhealthy food lying down on the couch. Get active!
Stop finding reasons not to do it and limiting yourself. Pick an activity you’d like and do it. Change your eating habits too.
Switch to a healthier lifestyle. Of course it’s much easier to find reasons not to do it, blame it on others, not make a change and continue to feel depressed and miserable but… it’s your choice how you want to spend your life.
You have to want it bad enough to really put some work in. It won’t happen over night. It will take some time but YOU CAN do it!
Be Yourself, The Real YOU!
Stop trying to be someone you’re not, trying to fit in what others think, want or need. You are unique!
Every day, every moment you keep on searching for validation from others to be something you don’t even like, just to fit in. To feel accepted.
And all of these for people you might not even like and who won’t give a damn about you.
Let your true light sparkle and surround yourself with people who like you for who you really are. And yes! Those wonderful people do exist. But you won’t find them by wasting your time with the ones who drag you down.
Do You Really Know Yourself? Really?
Take your time to get to know yourself and feel confident and comfortable in your body and with you. It’s not easy and it won’t happen over night. Everyone has flaws and insecurities.
It takes time. It’s a constant process and requires a lot of understanding. Some people don’t even know who they are and what they want to do with their life. If you’re one of them keep in mind that you are not alone.
Take some time to discover who you really are, what you like and what is true to you.
We all have good parts and not so good ones, find out what you’re good at and make them excellent. Make a list with your strengths. Your qualities.
Be honest. It’s you and YOU! Be honest with yourself.
Ignore The Haters
Listen, no matter who you are, how successful you are or not… people will judge. They will have something negative to say no matter what you do. Don’t take it personally!
Instead of wasting time and stressing out about what they say, focus on finding people who will motivate and support you in what you do.
Forgive And Move On
Stop blaming yourself for any setbacks or failures you had. Instead of blaming and feeling miserable learn the lessons and work every day on improving yourself.
Stop punishing yourself for all that goes wrong in your life. We all make mistakes and mistakes are a great way to learn and improve.
We sometimes fail and other times we succeed. It’s part of life. Forgive yourself, learn the lessons and move on.
Become Aware Of Your Limiting Beliefs
I’m not good enough…I don’t deserve it, I’m not worthy of, I can’t do it, nobody wants to talk to me, I’m not pretty enough, I’m not smart enough, I don’t have enough money, no time, too old, too young, too fat, too skinny…do any of these go through your mind often?
Pay attention on what goes on in your mind. All these limiting beliefs do is make you powerless, insecure and drag you down. All these negative thoughts are keeping you from being happy and succeeding in life.
How do you know you’re not good enough? Have you really tried? Or is it because someone told you that you can’t?
Just think for a second…if all those successful people would have listened to all those haters trying to drag them down will they still be successful?
You Are Good At Something
We’re all good at something. You might think you have no skills and talents but you have. You’re just not aware of them.
Maybe you’re good at dancing, singing? Maybe you love painting, writing, graphic design or you’re good at math? Gardening? Maybe you’re great with children.
Find out what you’re good at and start from there. If you know you’re good at something and you like it…give it a chance!
Stop Comparing Yourself With Others
Each person has its own life to live. You have yours so don’t waste time focusing on what others have or what they do. Focus on living your life in a way that makes you happy and brings you joy, in your own rhythm and time.
Work on being the best that you can be and stop comparing with others.
True, it may be easier for others, you might need to work harder so what? Work harder… you’re doing this for yourself.
Stop being someone else and start being yourself. Respect yourself. Stop comparing with others, accept who you are and follow your own way.
Be Patient
Learning to love yourself and building that self esteem is a constant work. You have to work on it every day! You can’t change over night. It takes time. So be patient.
Don’t rush and don’t stress yourself if you have any setbacks. It’s normal. Some days might be better and some days might be harder.
No one is perfect. But you have a choice. Ask yourself who you really are? Who do you want to be in this life?
You can always choose to be better, to improve, to become the person you really want to be.
It’s never easy letting go or getting the courage to walk away from whatever makes you unhappy or causes you any stress but you have to do it.
You have to accept yourself with the good parts and bad parts, strengths and weaknesses. Work with what you can change or improve and… learn to make peace with the rest. Forgive yourself and learn from your mistakes.
Change the way you think about yourself, accept your imperfections and focus on your strengths.
When you know yourself and you know who you really are and what you’re capable of…confidence jumps in automatically! You know who you are and you’re confident in what you can do!
A fabulously inspiring post. Thank you.
Glad you like it ! 🙂
This is great! My New Year’s resolution for 2018 is actually to love myself more, and I write a bit about it on my blog. I feel like I’m so used to other people putting me down that I started doing it to myself a long time ago and I had never noticed until now.
Thank you for your feel-good content!
Glad you like it! Loving and taking more care of yourself sounds like a great resolution for this year and I wish you all the best in achieving it. It’s important not to let others drag you down and ruin your motivation.
Always have faith and believe in yourself!
Self-love is an indispensable ingredient of higher self-assurance. Yes, it is easy to focus on the faults. But if you don’t stop doing this nonsense, then this state of mind and the overall affair can cause you to shrink from yourself. Without self-love, nobody can start their life’s voyage conveniently. In fact, they will feel fear to accomplish the undertakings on their own. Thus, I honestly feel that self-love is the most priceless asset that a person has ever owned in his life. On a serious note, you should develop a practice of being comfortable with yourself, and be in love with yourself so that you can feel more positive and increase your reliance level.
