Overcoming procrastination it’s not an easy job! We’ve all been there. Wanting but struggling to beat it!
You tried so much to overcome it, you really tried but, not much success right? Probably not since you’re reading this.
So how do you deal with it? Can you really overcome procrastination?
Look, we all procrastinate sometimes because of different reasons. But, some people finish whatever they set their mind onto. And some well, procrastinate over and over again.
It’s like an endless loop that won’t end. Truth is, you want to stop procrastinating.
But how?
You have this thing you really want to do it. You want to achieve it but, when it comes to actually doing it… you end up postponing.
Sometimes forever!
And I’m not talking about little, insignificant things that you usually need to do, like every day stuff that you simply don’t enjoy or you just don’t feel like doing it.
I’m talking about that ONE thing that keeps coming back to your mind!
That dream, that goal! THAT thing that KEEPS COMING BACK over and over again no matter how many excuses you find and how much you try to avoid it!
By the way, in case you wonder… that thing that keeps popping into your mind might be your true purpose in life, your destiny, a sign, certainly something you need to do or at least think about it!
And guess WHAT?
You KNOW it!
C’mon admit it! Deep down inside, if you really stop for a minute and listen to your heart or soul … you know exactly what you need to do!
But all you do is hope and dream, wish, but never actually try!
You want it but you search like crazy for SOMETHING else to do just to get away from it. You keep finding excuses not to do it. You keep avoiding it! And why?
I mean, you want to do it right?
So if you want it that much why are you running away from it?
Are you afraid of stepping out of your comfort zone?
Well…you’re not the only one.
Feels good to not get out of it right? It’s nice, cozy and familiar right?
Is it really?
Then why are you still reading this?
If you could only take a step outside your comfort zone to see how it feels and then maybe decide? Wouldn’t that be great?
BUT…what if you just EXPAND it?
Look… there’s nothing wrong with being comfortable!
But, sometimes you can get so comfortable that it keeps you from evolving! From improving and getting what you really want out of life.
Ask yourself…are you really happy? Or just settling? What are you avoiding?
Truth is, you’re not comfortable. You’re scared.
You’re afraid of what might happen so you stay in your “comfort zone” wanting and wishing, hoping and dreaming that …some day.
What are you afraid of? Failing? Or actually succeeding?
Maybe of the unknown?
But what if that unknown is the best thing that ever happened to you? Will that make a difference?
What makes you think that stretching out and expanding your comfort zone won’t be great for you?
You don’t really know. You’re just finding reasons not to do it.
Once you realize the true reason behind your procrastination you can get things moving.
You don’t have to know everything to start. Take a step, try! What have you got to lose?
You can always come back to whatever you’re doing now if you don’t like it.
Yes it won’t be easy, sure you’ll have some setbacks, some bumps on the road and yes you might fail, but don’t you have these anyway in life?
You keep waiting for the right time, the right sign the …whatever…
The funny and sad thing is that, if you would really pay close attention… you get the right time and you certainly get the sign you’ve been waiting for but, you keeeeep….waiting!
Truth is you’re just ignoring.
How about you opening your heart, truly listen and giving your best instead of running away, avoiding, finding excuses, pretending …settling?
Just because what you feel doesn’t fit in society standards, or makes you different doesn’t mean it’s not good for you. We all came here with a purpose, so instead of running away from it why not give it a chance?
When I was little I got a dress that I was crazy about. I absolutely loved it. I loved it so much that I didn’t wear it. That dress was so beautiful and I didn’t want to ruin it so I decided to only wear it on special occasions.
Well you know what happened? I grew and the dress didn’t fit me anymore.
I then felt sorry I waited instead of wearing it and actually enjoying it because I sure loved that dress. I still have that dress, and even today it’s still the most beautiful dress to me. It’s a reminder of taking chances and enjoying each moment to the fullest now! Not some day.
How much do you want it? Ask yourself WHY?
Are you procrastinating because you don’t like what you have to do or because you’re scared of doing it?
Or maybe you think you’re not ready?
But the thing is, if there’s something that you really want but, for some reason you keep avoiding it, at the end of the day you’ll end up feeling bad. Because you wasted another day.
Be honest, you have energy to do it, you would do anything else but not that. It’s all about what matters to you.
You have to understand that if you want something, postponing it endlessly won’t get you closer to your goal. You’ll get yourself even further away from it. And in the end you’ll just completely give up, feeling bad that you didn’t do it.
You need to understand that no one will do it for you and you’re the one who has to do it.
Wait till…when?
Stop postponing important things till you won’t be able to do them anymore. A few weeks ago I was talking to a guy and he told me he got to 100 kgs. I told him to simply do something about it if he doesn’t like it. I was amazed by his answer.
Want to know what he said?
He said he thinks he’s still young and his body could take a few more kgs till he can’t no more. Then he’ll do something about it.
Sadly his bad thinking is often found in others. You wait and postpone until you can’t no more. Sure losing weight and getting back in shape isn’t easy and for sure is not going to happen over night but, how much will you push it?
Till it breaks?
Most people are aware that what they are doing is wrong but they find it hard to push through it and make a change!
Stop ignoring what’s important to you. It’s like when you’re staying with a toothache until you can’t no more. You keep trying so many remedies but you’ll just prolong the visit to the dentist. And if you wait too long you can even lose the tooth!
Choose to get better today! Don’t wait until it might be too late!
Don’t just keep on wishing and dreaming, and thinking and postponing forever saying that maybe some day. Stop saying some day….make that some day, TODAY! Take actions today to achieve your goals.
You’re never satisfied, you want more, you’re not happy and you know there’s more to life but are you willing to put some effort in? What do you really want out of life? What makes your heart happy and what do you want to accomplish? Take some time to figure things out and then just start.
Don’t let procrastination hold you back from achieving your goals!
