I wanted to write something about this topic in the past as I know there are lots of people who get to a point in life where they feel like they don’t want to live anymore.
Since it’s such a delicate subject and because I feel like each case is different and needs specific and individual attention I didn’t.
Lately I’ve been asked if I could write about it by someone in desperate need to hold on to life.
So here it goes…I don’t know you, YOU the one who’s reading this. I have no clue who you are, where you are, what your life is and what you’re going through.
Each person who thinks there’s no point in living anymore has its own story. You have yours!
For some it might be the fact that they feel they failed at life, others are struggling with illness for years that they simply got tired of all. Some were hit with one tragedy after another and then some more….and more…
Some are all alone with no one to love and love them back. There are so many reasons someone might feel like giving up on life.
But one thing is for sure. All these people go through so much pain that they can’t handle it anymore. Pain and suffering overwhelms them so much that they think they can’t take it anymore.
They see no way out. Some get angry, some become just numb to everything, others are struggling to find a reason, to hold on to something…
I am not trying to convince you of anything with this post.
I don’t have all the answers you’re looking for or the magic pill we all want to fix everything but, what I do hope is that what I write will bring you a little light and hope, enough to help you want to hold on to life.
To choose life and never give up on it!
I know you’re suffering, but I also know that deep inside you’re screaming for help and you want to hold on to something…to live!
Search deep within yourself and keep on searching till you find a reason to keep going. You’ll find it!
Hold on! I know you feel like you’re on the edge but keep on holding on…for YOU! You deserve to be happy and you can be!
Why? Because I know that life can be amazing. You might not believe it but it’s true. Your soul knows it too!
Life is not always easy but, you have in yourself the power to make a change. Your life circumstances might not be in your favour but…instead of giving up, give it ALL you got to build the life YOU want to have and OVERCOME all the hardship you went through and why not?…live to INSPIRE others!
Be gentle and more forgiving with yourself. Show yourself the kindness and love that you would show someone you truly love and care for!
You need YOU the most! So BE there for yourself!
If you think you are a failure…you are not a failure! Yes you can fail, many times…but you’re not a failure.
I failed too, multiple times…felt miserable.
We all fail but…what if failing is not actually a fail? What if you look at it as trying to see what works and what doesn’t?
Take as much time as you need to find your own way.
For those in their 20s who are super scared because they are supposed to be doing something but they have no clue what to do and which way to go… I know how you feel!
You finish school but have no direction in life. You feel lost!
The system and everyone around you are trying to tell you what to do and how to be, what to be but, you just don’t fit in in all of that so you freak out!
It’s OK!
Truth is you don’t have to know exactly what you want to do by the time you finish school, high school or university or whatever! Some do…some know but they ignore and others find out later.
Listen…you’re young and you have your whole life to figure things out. I know, I know that everyone expects you to finish school and get a job.
Everyone asks you what you choose, what you want to do with your life and you’re freaking out because you’re clueless on what to do.
But that’s OK. You’re not the only one who’s feeling like that. And you don’t even have to! Getting a job you hate just to fit in won’t fix your life.
Most people don’t have a clue what to do with their lives.
But it can be a good thing!
How so?
Well you might not know what to do right now, but… do you know what you don’t want? C’mon…we all have an idea of what we don’t want. So start from there.
Knowing what you don’t want helps you stay on the right track. Knowing what you don’t want can help you focus on your skills, on what you like.
Ask yourself:
Is this what I want right now?
What I wish for myself?
Is this what I need right now in my life?
When taking a decision ask yourself if it will take you closer or further away from what you’re imagining your life to be like. How does it make you feel?
In the same time we have people in their 40s, 60s, 80s still trying to figure things out, regretting that they are losing precious time not knowing what to do with their life.
They feel like they’re running out of time and it’s over for them.
I have no idea how hard it must be for you but I do know that it hurts. The pain, the struggle…the regret, the… “I can’t go back and change things”…the “if only…”
Can I be totally honest with you?
If you spent your whole life till now doing things that didn’t make you happy…please choose a wiser way to spend the remaining years of your life.
You might be getting old but your soul is still young! And it’s never too late to make a difference.
Ask for help if you need to. There’s no shame in asking for help! If you can’t handle what you’re going through don’t be afraid to ask for help.
I know that there are people who are turning their backs and are not willing to help. Asking for help but getting rejected can be pretty hard but listen…
Yes…some people simply don’t care! But, most of them are actually afraid or they have no clue how to help you. Some try…they might not give you the help you need but they try as best as they know to help. It might not be what you expect but it’s sometimes all they know.
It’s not easy for you who’s desperately looking for help and it’s not easy for those trying to help, like your parents for example.
If you don’t have anyone to talk to or you don’t want to…there are books available that can help, videos…there are also support groups online and you can ask for help or just talk, help each other out. You don’t have to be alone in this.
There is rain, thunder and lightning in each person’s life.
No matter how cloudy it gets, never lose hope! The storm won’t last forever! The sun will shine again and a better day will come your way.
These are not just simple words. These words are true! There are people out there who managed to overcome the obstacles they had in their lives and build the life they love to live. You have the power to do it too!
If you got here with the reading and if you found this post helpful, please share it with anyone you think might need it. Also if you have any advice or tips share them in the comment section below…you never know who you might inspire and help!
Also, get outside and enjoy the beauty of our earth, unplug, search for quiet, and simple moments.
Yes! Nature helps and heals 🙂
What a lovely, caring heart you have Cristina I love that you are taking the time to write such thoughtful posts for people who are suffering in the ‘dark of night’ and not seeing any light coming.
Life can really beat us up. It can make us feel like we aren’t worthy, like we don’t measure up and as if it will never get better. These last few years have been a serious challenge for so many.
One thing guaranteed in life is change. There will be good days, great days and some days we wished we’d never seen. But the season will change and hope will rise again! Hang on, there is always hope for a brighter day.
Sending lots of love to you for loving on others.
Thank you so much for your lovely words and positive vibes! Lots of love to you too! 🙂
